How It Started

It all started with a dream and a passion for empowering communities.   Growing up in the Northern part of Ghana, Isaac has cared  about his community  from his childhood, learning first from his mother, Martha, a nurse and midwife about using nature and natural foods to promote healing and health.  Martha was known in her village as a healer, using herbs, spices, dried fruits, and vegetables as healing elements in the body. One of Martha’s goals was always to empower mothers and women in the community.  Isaac caught the bug and learned also to respect and empower women. Isaac was stuck in Ghana during the 2020 Covid 19 pandemic. With nothing much to do, he went back to his roots to visit the communities in northern Ghana where he grew up. That was when JustShea was born. Visiting with the women and the chiefs, Isaac realized that the vast majority of their livelihood came from the making and selling of sheabutter.  He created JustShea so that women can be paid fair price for their Shea products as well as provide an outlet for selling them.
